It takes years and a certain character to earn the name "Dagga boy". Respect is demanded and enforced upon everyone around him.
Normally they team up with one or two other Grumpy old men, sometimes not. They do not enjoy the protection of a herd, but attitude and
balls make up for this. He was quenching his thirst, keeping a beady eye on me...

Hi Andre , glad you found the time to post something !! And i find the time to comment .

What a nice big unit of a Buff, love the clean surrounding and the overall color and tones . Very gentle way of sharpening , but yet effective .... does look very good to me , tell Gab how !!
I feel he is looking at me , that makes tis work very nice .Love the earth piece on one an the foliage on the other horn.
Just think the buff itself could stand a bit more "form" , but this is a very minor thing .

Example is on its way , nice work my southern Boetie.

    Cheers Andreas

Hi Andre - I took the liberty of adding the "theme" prefix to your post. With the tongue out I think it qualifies for this month's theme. I really like the comp with the off-center buff and inclusion of a bit of the habitat. What a great stare the dagga boy gave. He is definitely trying to show you who is boss. Either that or he is eyeing Gabriela . Nicely done.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Andre - one of the best Daggaboy portraits I've seen in a long time...that look and tongue really makes it!
Might add a hint of warmth??

The mood of the photo looks gentle, innocent. The subject is all but gentle and innocent. Tfs-all has been said.

Thank you all for the kind words
Morkel, was thinking about that, but it was overcast, afraid it might look artificial...?

Very nice interesting image of a difficult subject. Lovely tones and open surroundings. Maybe just a punch up on contrast may add a little more. Very nice image!

That's one scary mother of a buffalo.
Really nice shot in habitat. The BG looks very calm. The only thought I have regarding the buffalo's position is that a little less above him and more water may look a little more pleasing.
In any case, it's great work!

Not quite the "you owe me money - banker's look" but still the steely stare. Agree that this is a super image that you have captured buddy.
