Seeing a Caracal out in the wild is always special. On our way out of the Mountain Zebra National Park last month, my family and I were blessed with this very brief sighting before sunrise. I grabbed 2 or 3 photos while the sleek feline paused to survey its route, and then it turned away from us and went to the river.

Hi Morkel, great to see an image of a Caracal. I have not seen one before. DOF looks really quite good at F4. You and a nice eye contact despite the side way look. Loi

    Hello Morkel,

This is one very special sighting indeed, not often one gets to see a Caracal in the wild! It must have been a brief encounter, well done capturing this!

The colours look good and I like the concentration/stare. Sharp enough IMO and I like the DOF, just curious why you did not up the ISO for better SS, just in case you needed it?

Lovely capture Morkel, and another species to add to your wonderful portfolio

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Morkel - the only time I saw a caracal in the wild it was a blue as it ran across the road and continued running. You did great on the grab shot and the IQ held up to the crop. Image portrays early morning too with the cooler tones. Nice one.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hi Morkel always special to get these guys to see in the wild !!!
I never saw them in that way , just only rushing away when i approached them .
For the techs given and the shooting conditions ( being in a rush) this does look quite good.
The colors and tones do look good to me fro the aesthetic POV.
I would just go for a slightly different crop from my view , a bit more to the LHS for viewing space for the Caracal .
