Very nice image Gail.................this is actually an adult non-breeding Little Blue. Juvs/immatures are all white.

A wonderful pose, great background, and fine techs with the late light picking out every wing feather. And an interesting bird. I always thought juvie Little Blue Herons were white, with greenish legs -- certainly the lovely light couldn't have turned pure white to golden brown? Almost like a dark morph Reddish Egret, but the bill is like a Little Blue. But not being a Floridian, I'm sure I haven't seen all the possible variations. In any case, a sweet shot for sure. Oops, Brian beat me to it as I was writing. Thanks for clarifying.

Yikes! Can the mods delete the Juvie in the title? I was thinking about the juvie blue posted below and thought I would post a picture of the adult for comparison!

Beautiful light on this guy Gail. I would have called him a Juvie also, He is much lighter than the adult Slate blue ones I see so often around here. Yet Brian is correct in pointing out that immatures are all white. The shot is nicely placed in the frame an beautiful open wings.

Re: DE during your PP? What does DE refer to? I know DE is usually the abbreviation for Deutschland, but not in PP terms. :D

Excellent pose, light, BG, comp. Perfect head and body angles. Well done in all aspects, except the title which I've fixed as requested.

Terrific pose and light on this lovely bird, Gail. The feather details are amazing here. Glad you were able to photograph one in breeding colors.

Beautiful pose and I really like that late evening light. The soft feather detail in the underwing is perfect and the BG complements the subject. Well done Gail!
