Although I see and hear this species a lot during the summer months this is the first time I've had the pleasure of properly photograph an adult male. I did photograph a first summer male a couple of years ago, but the adults are so much more striking!

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld (from the car, lens barrel braced on door opening), cropped for comp, darkened the pupil as well as the brightest leaves, a few strands of spider web removed from the top of the head via patch tool, removed a strong-ish blue cast on the head and back. Audio used.

Lovely shot with the green background complimenting the green leaves. It sets the bird off beautifully. The perch is well proportioned to the size of the Redstart and I really like the fresh new leaves that make it all fit together nicely. My only thought would be to perhaps try a slightly tighter crop from the left.

Excellent in every way. I might have wished for just a bit more tonal variation in the background. Quite striking bird to my eyes.

Very nice image with that clean background and the petite perch.

I like the composition and the pose, the perch is also good. The background is just a little evident/noticable, I think I would play around with saturation and brightness to make it a little less contrasting.

That is a very handsome male. I like how the angle of view has basically left out most of the white parts of the plumage. Placement of the subject on the perch and pose are both spot on. Nice loose composition Daniel.

Nice exposure and love the head turn. If it were mine I would try to take out the far left branch.Overall very nice!
