    Default Theme: Red-crowned Crane

Having just read Denise's excellent new e-book on filters, I am experimenting more with textures. This image is from snowy Japan. I used Topaz impression, 2 flypaper textures, and PS stuff. I would have liked the feet to show but they were entirely covered by snow. Maybe I should have imported feet from another image but didn't think about that until just now.

Very nicely done. The background echoes the blues in the crane, and the contrast of the black and white against it is beautiful. I did notice the feet (actually lack of) right away. That's really because of the snow, however, so I wondered about something different from importing feet. The movement and color in the background remind me of snow, anyway, so I wondered about adding a faded horizon line and a darker foreground. Just a thought.

Wonderful! I'd consider importing some feet and then fading them into the snow with a speckle effect, which would also mean they don't have be perfect.

A hint of trees in the BG could be interesting.

I have added feet. I tried trees in the bkgd but could not make them fit in anymore.

The repost is perfect, I like the hint of the feet, the dispay pose, and the BG textures.

Appropriate as it have a the feel of an oriental print. Lovely. I am still pondering feet vs no feet, but I think I would leave it as it is. Somehow more graphic.

Thanks all! It took me awhile to get the feet to look anatomically correct (or at least not weird!).

    Nancy,

Greetings. Late to the show but the feet are perfect. I like the look of a Japanese print. I wonder if a tall aspect ratio might work... the background would need some work, but the general idea...

A chop and may be a moon in the upper left, paper edges top & bottom... just a thought ;-)

    Cheers,

Beautiful, Nancy. I love the background. I just started Denise's e-book last night and am really excited about trying new effects.

As my good friend Dan Brown says, this could really use a Chinese chop, nice effect on the Crane. Well done

Thank you everyone! A Chinese chop is a really good idea! Michael, I also like the vertical crop and even the wavy stretched-out bkgd. It continues the vertical aspect as well as contrasts with the horizontal band.
