    Default Theme Harrier and Coot

Shot this a year ago with Dave Salem he posted a similar image a while back. This coot was caught in the water by the harrier and the harrier held it under water until it drowned, which took several minutes. The harrier then let go of the coot and waited for it to drift to the shore, then it drug it to this open area for consumption. Shot from the car window on a bean bag. D4 600mm, ISO 800, 1/4000sec, F5.6. Thanks for your comments always appreciated. This was not an isolated incident we observed harriers performing this method of capture on other winter days.

Fantastic capture. Thanks for telling all of the story as well. Interesting hunting technique. I must have been an incredible experience seeing it.

Excellent. Great work on this image Glen. Fab lighting and I love the head with the feathers in the mouth of the Harrier. Well done and thanks for sharing

What a great encounter we had that day Glenn. I don't think we have ever been quite this close to a Harrier on a kill, especially in killer evening light. The frame looks awesome with great color and detail and I really like the feathers in the beak. Nice one buddy!
