Default On the Move- Snowy plover chick

    Attached Images Attached Images

This chick is 8 days old. Taken on Sanibel Island, Florida last week.
    Canon 1DX
    100-400 mm and 1.4x
    ISO 800 SS 1/2500 F9
PP; ~ 65% FF, LR5 sliders (clarity +15, saturation +10), NR to BG, levels and USM to JPEG (very light amount 10% at 0.3 pixels) to maintain softness of the chick.
The chick is about 2 inches high in real life so he/she is actually smaller than he/she appears on this image.
Comments and critiques always appreciated and learned from with thanks,
    Gail

    What a lovely image Gail!
I really love the perspective and the isolation of the chick.
If you have a touch of space below, I'd add that.

    Congratulations!

    Gail:

A real cutie, love the striding pose, sense of small bird in a large world. I think the exposure is spot on for this type of environment.

The only possible tweak for me would be just the tiniest bit more room below.

    Cheers

    Randy

Akos and I were typing at the same time, so sorry about the repetition on the extra room.

Adorable! Love the low angle you got. Great capture. As has been mentioned, perhaps adding some canvas.

Hi Gail, just love the perspective here, together with the raised foot. Lovely pastel colours throughout the image, and the sand covered beak adds interest. A bit more space below would take this up a few more notches.

Very sweet lil pipsqueak! POV and BG is great with the best DOF for the tiniest detail throughout. love the grains of sand on toes and beak and I too would like a bit more room below. adorable!

Hi Gail - great low pov and pastel tones. The walking pose is a treat. My first thought was also for a bit more room below.

Hi again Gail. I like this much better than the shot of the adult and chick. Although I agree with the others about additional room below, that's very, very minor in my opinion. Excellent exposure and good detail and sharpness. Love the pastel palette in the beach environment and your point of view as well as the bird's stride and lifted foot. Bravo!

A real beauty Gail! I like the low angle, IQ, exposure, walking pose and squinty eye. I agree with a little more room below.

Thank you all for your comments. Here is my repost with a bit more room below and in front.
I had lots of canvas to work with so easy fix. I brightened the catchlight a bit in this version .

Gail, I simply adore this!!! Love it, and your RP is simply superb! Congratulations!

Not much to add to what has been said already, I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed viewing this image, with its beautiful background and this tiny little creature, so full of character despite its minute size. If it were mine I would have it printed on canvas, it would give me joy every time I looked at it:)

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea
