These guys were very skittish, and would fly away and either land a little further away in front of me, or fly and turn back behind me, along the edge of the dam. I just had to be patient and wait for a decent shot as they flew around deciding where they were going. This was taken early morning at a water works in Cape Town during my december holidays. The BG is distant mountains.

Hi Stu - Nice and sharp. The eye is great and I agree it pops nicely from the bg. Well done.

I love the light and the grey BG.
    Nice and sharp.
The slightly exposed belly that is turned towards the viewer is different and adds to the image.

Beautiful image Stuart! I like how the bird is looking over at you, IQ, composition and clean complimentary BG.

Great flight shot Stu. Patience has paid off. Well done mate.
I wonder if there are images in the sequence showing a mountain? I thought it would be greenish.

Thanks mate. If you google Table Mountain, you will see its a solid piece of rock, ( with a bit of vegatation on top ) and this image was captured with the back of Table Mountain in the very far distance, thus showing the 'grey' look.
