It is very striking. With the black in the tree, having the black rectangle in the bottom was a great idea. Unless you were lucky with the actual background, you must've used some masking magic. I'm guessing that the red is the same all over and that it's my eyes being fooled by the tree that makes the red seem like it's darker in some places. Squinting for a while followed by looking at it normally does things to the red. This is fun.

thanks. I was lucky with the magic wand since the background was all sky. Used levels to adjust tree and changed a slanted base into a rectangle one.

I really like the contrast of the natural tree against the very graphic red & black bkgd! I also like how you created a little pedestal for the tree and that it sits just a bit above the black line. You did a fabulous job with the magic wand to get all those little cut-out shapes within the tree. Very creative!

What they said! Striking and excellent! You could play with the BG color here endlessly. Would be interesting to play with some color on the tree, as well.

Thanks. I have thought of playing with background colors. Will do.

I think you excel at graphic images Hazel. Really like the simplicity and the bg. It might be fun to push it even more and get different colours on the tree, but I really like it as is.

The black base nicely grounds the image.

I opened this image and felt delight at what I saw. Love the black and white on red. Simple and striking. I played with it a bit and like it a bit brighter and with some cropping on both sides. I like your creativity.

Thanks. I'm playing with it, too. Will try your idea
