This Great Blue Heron has just touched down on the nest with another twig for his mate.
    Canon 20D, Canon 500 IS lens, exposure 1/320th @ F5.6 ISO 200.
Created at the Venice Florida Audubon Rookery last season on an overcast day.

Very nice interaction and BG, John. If you clone, I would consider getting rid off the blue spot in the upper left.

Sure like the light here !!!! Got the perfect angle for the birds In a real world a left wing spread by the make would have been great !!!!! One fine image from the Rookery Big Congrats !!!!

    Default Beautiful Capture

I was just at Venice yesterday but not much activity there as yet, still early in the breeding season. Excellent location to get such a "clean" view.

Very nice image, John. You captured a wonderful interaction, sharp and well exposed. I also like that you have an eye visible on both subjects. I agree with Axel about the blue in the upper-left corner. I might consider cropping this to a vertical. The frame would be full of very powerful elements. I've attached an example. I cropped from each side (and a small bit from the bottom) and added a small amount of canvas at the top.

I like this picture very much...hard to find something to correct especially after the crop of Blake.... Was there difficult to get that close to this blue heron?

Other question: "I project a trip to Florida in ferbruary or march...could you suggest best place and best time to get such wonderful pictures?" It would be appreciated. Thanks and congrats.

Wonderful action you captured here John and excellent color and detail. Also well composed and my only nit but would be to clone out the blue spot in the upper left as Axel already mentioned. Very nice capture !!!

A beautiful shot with both crops. I may be seeing things but I get more of a 3-D impression with the original crop. It just seems to me to give the picture more depth. Nice shot!

If the upper left spot is removed, I prefer the original post with the additional space around the birds.

It's an excellent image. I agree with opinion of BillPelzmann "If the upper left spot is removed, I prefer the original post with the additional space around the birds"
