    Default Whistling Kite dive

These scavenging kites love to take a free meal given the opportunity. While many individuals I encounter near my western Sydney shooting areas are skittish and need long lenses, this fellow was one of a pair nesting near a central coast beach so they are used to humans. So used to that they'd dive in within 10 meters of our boat to take some fish we threw overboard.

    manual mode, little crop only

The lightly clouded sky made shooting ideal in the middle of the day.

    Akos:

I like the strong diagonal of the banking pose, the flared primaries, good eye contact, and enough clouds in the bg to give the image some depth.

Could see a vertical version of this as well.

    Great to see you back.

    Cheers

Very nice image Akos. Lovely details on the bird and I like the HA. The BG with blues and light clouds sets the image off nicely. Well done

I like the banking pose, fanned tail, wing tips and sharpness. I could see this as a vertical as well. Excellent image Akos.

Hi Mate, great to see you posting again - hopefully all good after all those storms you guys had a while back. Great banking angle, and I like the concentrated stare from the kite. Good DOF, sharp, and I do like the curled primaries. The cloudy sky rounds the image off nicely.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I got vertical crops too Randy. :)

All good Stu. Plenty of rain my way and some bad flooding but we weren't affected.
