    Default Nemesis: Ovenbird

Of the many warbler species that I consider nemesis birds, the Ovenbird is the most frustrating. I can accept not getting the rarities; but the song of the Ovenbird is a constant presence whenever I walk in the local woods. But I only rarely get a glimpse of one, and have never gotten an unobstructed view, until now. This one was not the least afraid of us, and even when we were attempting to photograph other species, he kept showing up. Still, it was a deep woods setting, so out of some 140 frames this was one of the few that was unobstructed, with a narrow window through the leaves. Full frame except for slight rotation. Removed several twigs behind the bird, and some BG highlights.

Worth it though Bill. I love this sort of shot and believe me I know how hard they are to get. Doesn't suit everyone but it does the works for me.
    Great stuff.

Sounds like our Eastern Whipbird in Australia.
Great record photo in any case. I bet you were rapt to get it clear!

Great setting for this species. Nice use of fill flash. I enjoy what the flash gives for subtle highlights on the bill and white plumages on the belly. I like how the foliage frames the ovenbird, while the view is unobstructed. Good image quality and the details on the bird are quality as well.

Love the light on the bird and the natural setting, Bill. I have lots of Warbler images, but there is always room for improvement.

Congrats Bill! I have the same issue with pintail ducks- cannot seem to get a good shot of them...
This is very nice. I really like the foliage and the clear view to the bird.
Good IQ and light looks good,
    Gail
