Get this down yer neck as they say in Lincolnshire
    Great Crested Grebe family.
No winner in the IQ category but I thought a nice NH shot. One of the funniest things I,ve seen
The male kept bringing in White Clawed Crayfish for the young bird ( That species of Crayfish is protected by lawby the way!!)
To see that young bird trying to swallow them was amazing. Took about 10 minutes a time.!
As a matter of interest the Grebes used to nest on fallen tree branches around the lake edge The council cleared them all out in case anychildren climbed on them and fell in. So the Grebes are gone. Progress and Health and safety. !!!!
Thanks for looking. As I say no IQ gem but a big crop and into the sun.
The white dots are midges !! No catchlights in the eyes as there weren't any.

Very nice looking image John. Great looking behaviour shot. I think the IQ on the birds is good. The midges add atmosphere, Nice one, well done

Thanks Will. To get great IQ is always desireable but I feel sometimes a story or behaviour record is worth as much- sometimes more.

The thumbnail doesn't do this justice John!
I just love the interaction portrayed but what really caught my eye was the curved neck and body of the chick.
I think I would take the time to clone out all the midges and specular highlights in the Bg. It would really take this image to a a higher level.

    Thanks Chris
I got a bit fed up demolishing so many midges and didn't take too much care over it.
    !
Looking again I think I like the midges anyway !
    Cheers
