I captured this Great Gray Owl was coming in for a landing. It was great to see the full extension of the talons this owl is capable of achieving. This enables them to crash through deep snow to catch their prey. Here are the shot details:
Camera: Canon EOS 20D
Lens: Canon 100-400 IS (200mm range)
ISO: 200

"Incoming"......first thing I thought of when I opened this one. I love the action on this one and the BG really gives a sense of depth. The side view is perfect. You can see his concentration on the post, the talons extended, and the wings remind me of wing flaps on a plane used as brakes. Although this is a heavenly image, I'd try to remove the sharpening halos to improve it.
You captured the landing action quite well. Nice timing. I love the red bg in the upper part of the frame. I like the bg as is, but a lower angle may have resulted in an even better bg. One thing that would help this image would be to selectively sharpen only the bird. It looks like you sharpened the entire image causing some noise in the bg. A little shadow highlight in PS might bring out some more details in the dark areas. This is fine image.
