This female peregrine was very tolerant of me getting close despite her nest being 100 ft across the cliff. She didn't leave until a red tailed hawk flew past, threatening her territory.
ISO 800, 1200mm, 1/800s, F9 handheld
50% crop, stick cloned from background, small patch of feather on top of her breast selectively darkened. Thanks for looking!
C + C welcome
She is lovely, with nice head angle, neutral background, good catchlight.
For my tastes, the image could go a bit brighter, as the whites are in the low 200s in general, at the brightest. I would shoot for the brightest ones in the 230 range. This would also bring up her face nicely.
I would agree with the above comments and also try a little extra sharpening, I suspect this would have to be done selectively eg around the eye and cheek in particular as the other plumage looks pretty sharp..
I agree the image should go brighter and a bit more sharpening applied, but I love the comp, BG. Nice that the face is tilted up a bit too. A great opportunity for you that was!
Great opportunity you had here and a terrific portrait that can be made even better with a few tweaks. I would brighten it up a bit, choose a crop that keeps the bird out of the middle and do some sharpening.
The first post appears a little soft around the eyes. The repost appears to be too sharpened, kind of when the original is not sharp enough and us wanting to make it sharp.
Nice attempt at getting a portrait.
I am guessing a 1D series camera body? ISO3200 should have been fine with a smaller aperture for better overall IQ and proper exposure technique. I am also guessing your 1200mm is a 600mm + 2x?
