The bold but somewhat subdued blocks of color in the background set the foreground off very nicely. The contrasts in both detail and intensity are effective.

Great combination of effects! Wonderfully detailed radiating lines in the tulip visually spreading into the large detail-less swaths of color in the bkgd, with some colors repeating and some contrasting. I especially like the addition of the blues. Excellent diagonal position of the tulip and the open petals. Well done!

I love the effect you have gotten on the tulip, and find them beautiful, even when past their prime. The bg colours somehow even work for me too!
