Yesterday I went with Bill Dix to the very location he had captured that great image of the Pileated Woodpecker in hopes of seeing him again. We arrived just about the same time of day. Waited and waited some more with no luck. We moved on in this watershed area and came across some Yellow Warblers, and this White-eyed Vireo. C&C welcome.

Hi Geoffrey, lovely calling pose of this specimen.
I quite like the colors and overall exposure .
To me the subject do sit a bit high in the frame and i am missing some punch in the blacks (does look a bit flat overall) , maybe a bit more sharpening could be applied from my POV .

I like the composition and background. For me, the bird high in the frame is just fine as it is balanced by the oof foliage below--a little different from most here, but it works for me. I like the level of contrast. The open beak and the eye are wonderful. Capturing these in as open a space as you did is an achievement. Like it a lot!

Very good singing pose you got here. Good exposure. I like the BG, but I agree with Andreas that the bird is quite high in the frame. Subjective, of course, but the comp is making the steep angle look even steeper. I suspect you wanted to keep the cedar leaves in but I think pointing you lens up would have been better IMO. Still a nice image, and of a great species too.
