Love the light and the pose, the undersides of the wings are nicely lit. Perhaps a little more canvas at the bottom and less at the top, to give her some room to land in.

Hello Ron. Thank you for replying and for your advice. I will do that before printing.

Hi David, I quite like the 'landing posture' and the outstretched wings.

I would aim for more SS, even a bit more DoF if it's coming towards you and reduce the saturation (even taking into account the early morning), looks a bit warm in parts. If the subject flies towards you, just remember the lens will have to do more work.

Thanks for the advice Steve. I am still concerned about the noise I got from the old 7D above 800, but I think that I have seen enough good higher ISO images out of the Mk ii to push it to 1600 as long as I keep the exposure up.

David I would push it, you haven't anything to loose in firing off frames and it's a good way to learn and hone those settings. IMHO I have felt the old 7D wasn't so forgiving if you didn't nail the exposure perfectly, although Daniel C for example, has shown time & time again you can create superb, sharp, well balance images with it. You may find Artie's User Guide a help, just a thought?

Sadly David, I think you will find living in the UK you will need a camera where you have to push the ISO to retain a fast enough SS and the DoF you required.

    Very nice landing pose.
    Agree with comments.
Don't be afraid to push ISO. I can still get clean shots from my 30D at ISO1600!
