I've posted a few from this sighting over in the Wildlife Forum but I thought I'd combine them in a Story Sequence thread for Gabriela and maybe add in a new one too.

We heard that the wild dogs were spotted in the Timbavati Game Reserve. We had a distance to go to get there and there were no guarantees they would stay put. We got to the sighting and the pack was 25+ strong but when we arrived they were mostly resting in the shade. Another vehicle had stayed with them until we arrived. Shortly after that vehicle left some of the dogs started to rise and stretch. Soon one ventured into the dam and then another and another. They spent over a half hour frolicking and chasing each other through the water and on the bank. We quickly moved to the opposite side of the waterhole/dam and were treated to a fantastic and memorable sighting.

    Thanks for looking,

    Rachel

    Hello Rachel!

This is such a wonderful surprise - thank you from the heart for this sequence! You know how much I love wild dogs - being able to see them interact and play is just awesome!!!

You made my evening...I keep scrolling up and down to watch the entire sequence as a "movie" - so exciting and I wish I was there:)

Indeed a memorable sighting and I so envy you, spent many days following wild dogs in the past but the photography bug had not bitten me at the time, I regret not being able to record what I have seen. Your sequence reminds me of those special times, there's so much joy and playfulness and I love the characters' lust for life:)

Once again many thanks Rachel, you certainly can tell a story so beautifully and I shall keep on looking...any chance to see more, or am I pushing my luck?

My favourites within the sequence? Err... Image 1, 2 and 3...and 4 and 5

Warmest regards, have a wonderful evening,
    Gabriela Plesea

Great sequence Rachel! Love seeing the the playful behavior of these dogs. You captured this story wonderfully. Must have been great to see in the wild.

    Hi Rachel

Love the mood you have captured and portray so well here!
I have never seen this in the wild, only with some hyenas.
It seems the water brings out the playful child in all species!
    Regards

    Andre.
