    There are more herons around my local river area than I have seen for a long time, the breeding conditions must be good. Thanks for looking. Taken in the last rays of the dying sun.

    David:

    The extension of the lower wing really shows how massive the wings are. The light angle gives a very strong sense of depth and form to the wing.

    In a perfect world, having the bird angling a bit towards us would be nice, and I wish the upper wing was more open. The arch of that wing does frame the head nicely.

    Great view of that far wing. Nice late day light. The main issues is the heron angling away from us, as Randy points out.

    Hi David, good feather detail showing on the far wing. Hopefully you can get close to their breeding area, and capture them bringing back nesting material.
