    Default Dog at Dusk

We spent a brief 3 days in the Kruger National Park in January, and it yielded my first proper African Wild Dog (Painted Dog) sighting in Kruger in more than 10 years!
We sat with a pack on a rocky outcrop for most of the afternoon, and at dusk they got active, started socialising and set off to hunt.
I went for the silhouette here because of the distinct shape the pose of the male gave me.

    Pretty much full frame

Hi Morkel, congrats on finding the dogs at Kruger. We spent a day looking for them in the Mashatu side last week, but didn't get to see them. The silhouette works well here. As for the background, the white spot above the dog is a wee bit distracting as it draws my eye there. Otherwise, looks great. Loi

Hi Morkel - Nice looking silhouette. We don't often see them against this color sky. I agree with Loi about toning down the whites. The image raises an interesting question (at least to me). Does it matter which way an animal is facing in a silhouette? I often bin silhouettes where it is facing away. Somehow here it doesn't seem to matter as much.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Hello Morkel ! I liked this one , especially the booked of the grass , such a pleasing sight ,only the black thing in the RHS of the frame is bit distracting .

    Hello Morkel,

Very special sighting of this wild dog and I just love the blue sky and dark silhouette:)

I realise this is almost FF yet I somehow feel the need to see more space around the subject and a tidier BG on the RHS (sorry Morkel, I suspect I might be suffering from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, for I tend to tidy up things constantly)
This lovely WD image gives me hope we might get lucky in the Kruger in September, well done capturing this Morkel

    Have a super evening,
    Gabriela Plesea
