    Default Downy Woodpecker

Photographed on my front porch. She was there for a split second. Only got this one frame off. It's a little tight on the crop, but I did not want to do any cloning out.

Used some electronic wireless flashes on this shot. 24 inch Stobies with a SB800 for front light, and a SB800 backlight in a a 8inch LumiQuest softbox 3. Pocket Wizard-X used.

    D810 & Tamron 150-600mm @ 550mm

    f/8 125 of a second ISO 160.

    Thanks for looking

Thanks John, I have all the gear for other applications,so I thought I would give it a try. I didn't get many chances, but it was fun, and I was on my front porch. Here is a chickadee, unfortunately
it has a slight head movement around the beak.( 100 of a second). It's easier to see the effect of the backlight flash on this one.

    Hi Ed,

I like the BKGR of the Pane 1 image though it is a bit bright. Is it natural or artificial? The image is sharp. I too am confused by the flash comments.... The woodpecker's head needed to be turned a bit more toward us--it is actually turned slightly away. The WHITEs of the eye line and the tuft on the rear flank look pretty bright....

For the future, one image per post please unless it is a similar for comparison. a

Thanks Arthur, The BG is all natural, just the woodpecker is artificially lighted. I only had one frame of the woodpecker. Sorry about the second post.
