Noob sauce here again... but I am a member now :-) 2nd post... 10 days ago I purchased the Canon 400mm prime lens... I shoot on a Canon 70D body and I'm fairly new to BIF photography (last 2 months)...
Last Wednesday I headed to my favorite Osprey nest late in the afternoon with the conditions and light favorable for click/click/click...
I've been here enough to know a rough schedule and some basic patterns... Feeding time, pass off of fish, and eating poles...
He heads out to a nearby cove, grabs a fish, circles the nest, heads to the far post to eat the head and up to 60% of the fish, then back to the nest, she takes the remainder then flys to the closest post to finish it off...
Here is the I'm back with a fish and circle the nest photo...
While he was eating his portion at the far pole that I can't get to... I set up at the near pole and waited for her to get her portion... Light was good and with a little luck... here she comes... 400mm f/5.6 1/2000 ISO-200
Nice sharp image and details; I like the way the whites are preserved. You might consider toning down the highlights on the beak (1st image perched), I find them to be just slightly distracting. Excellent in flight and well done. Thanks for sharing - steve
Nice images! But I do agree the crop is too tight. I would add a bit more room all around. I would also run a bit of highlight recover on the fish and on the bright areas of the Osprey.
