This guys was from a ranch in the TX Hill Country call Turkey Hollow about 2hrs outside Austin. Beautiful little place. Was waiting on some Green Kingfishers that never showed but this guy was a highlight.

    Taken in a slight drizzle...

    Cheers,
    Lou

Great pose, perch, composition and BG. The bird could be a bit sharper and the reds look a bit orange on my monitor. Could you post some techs?

Very lovely composition and a great pose. I love the clean BG and the very striking look of this image. I agree about the color and My recollection of them is that they are redder and more saturated. Would love to see another round of USM but overall a very beautiful image. Thanks for sharing Lou.

Spectacular..... Bravo and all that Lou. ;) For a minute when you said TX, I thought of the ranch (Los Madrones) and said, how come I didn't see one. A real wall hanger.

Love the image as presented for all the reasons mentioned above. Love the perch and composition, very well done.

Lou, this is excellent work. Really love the composition. Great background. Remember to convert your web images to sRGB before posting. I brought this image into PhotoShop and a lot of the "punch" came back in an Adobe RGB workspace :)

Nice work here. Composition is what does it for me.

Lou, this is the sort of image I hope to see each time I log onto BSN. I think it's a superb composition enhanced by an amazing perch and a wonderful BG. Cannot comment on the colours as I do not know this species but I do wonder whether the saturation could be increased. . . .
