Sorry I haven't been around much the last week.. Crazy busy calendar submission season and I need to finish them all up before starting a demanding Yellowstone tour schedule starts in May... This is one of my favorite themes and I wanted to get a few more out there before it's over. Here's a mated pair of Coyotes on a cold winter morning in Round Prairie Yellowstone National Park.

Hi Dale - I like the placement of the coyotes in the frame and the tree on the lhs as an anchor. There's definitely a feeling of cold coming through but if it were mine I would reduce the blues and cyans some, not completely but particularly on the tree. Here I dropped them -30. I also cropped in from the left to eliminate the two stray stalks of grass on the left edge. WDYT?

    TFS,
    Rachel

P.S. I forgot to say that your image did not have an embedded color profile so there can also be a color shift depending on browser. I embedded sRGB in the rp.

I have a tendency to crop my photos too much, but I really like yours since you can see their surroundings.

Hello Dale, A pleasing sight, lovely scape with beautifully placed subject . I liked Rachels version eliminating the grass blades and also reducing the blues and cyans.

Simply a very "sweet" image, in all senses of the word.

Interesting that Rachel saw the same in your shot, regarding Blue, that she saw in my Mountain Lion, and I both cases I like it. For me, lesson learned, watch out for the subtle blue in snow.

Now, I like them both, the first and Rachel's repost. I think this is one of those images that if most folks did not see them "side-by-side" they would be very happy, and rightly so, with either.

    Hello Dale,

Great image design and so pleasing to the eye, love to see so much of the environment here. Including this behavioural aspect of the Coyote makes this frame even more special:)
With Rachel eliminating those traces of blue and cyan, there's nothing left to crit, LOL... congratulations Dale, another lovely animalscape I thoroughly enjoyed viewing, thank you for sharing!

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Dale, really like your Winter scenes.

The RP works and retains the coldness, but I might also reduce the contrast in the BKG trees, so it opens up a bit more. The minimal amount of detail in the snow is nice too, there is more that can come out, but the subtlety works.
