He was checking for scent markings of other leopard, was in this position for a few seconds. There are small droplets
of water that he shook off which can be seen. This pic was taken in the afternoon after a shower of rain it was still cloudy
and there was wet sand in front of the Leopard. In my eyes this seems to show a yellow cast to the picture.

    Nikon D4s 600mm @ F 5.6 ISO 1250 1/800
cropped took out some small dead twigs, adjusted Levels, Saturation, BG NR and Leopard sharpened.

Would like to know your views,

    Tks Hiran

Hi Hiran, I like this image, I'm intrigued by the behaviour, I also like the way you've frame it, composed the image. I'm curious you say he's checking for scent marking as you often see them smelling/sniffing, so this is for me, is a unique image.

As to the image (and I'm away so having to view via the laptop) but I do agree with your assessment that the image is showing a 'yellow' cast. I would perhaps go a more cooler Temp, but then tweak the HSL (Hue, Saturation, Luminance) and or Selective colour. I might also back off a little on the Contrast. In doing so, you may also find some of the finer detail comes back through. The laptop is not ideal, but I do think, with some minor tweaks the image will certain improve and get to where you want it to be.

The attached might be too far, but it may help in a direction.

Hi Hiran ! Loved the pose here superb timing. your image consists of a yellow cast and Steves version has improved the overall colors but a slight yellowish tone will give the post-rainy feel which u would have actually experienced out there . But a good image overall !!!

Hi Steve, Thank you for your comments, I do agree that with the changes done the Leopard does stand out better. I will also do some changes as mentioned by you.

    Hello Hiran,

You have captured a very special image, and not just from a behavioural POV...the scene itself is awesome, with subject standing up and investigating the nature of scent on those bushes...he is so unaware of your presence!

I'd say this is typical feline behaviour, curiosity being characteristic to the species:)

I like your composition and the water droplets certainly add to the image. Nice and sharp, the colours overall a bit "strong" as you already stated - I like Steve's slightly cooler, more natural looking version. Maybe try go somewhere in-between and see what it looks like, perhaps give us an RP if you have the time.

Well done in capturing this, I dare anticipate you will delight us with some more from this leopard sighting?

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Reduced contrast, adjusted magenta and blue in Hue/ Sat, then in selective color white reduced yellow, slight increase of black in neutrals and black.

Would like to know if this looks better.

    Thanks

Hiran, I think you are doing great with PP work and the whites look good to me on the subject now. I would personally pull back on the yellow (leopard only) a tad - but really a tad, difficult to judge since I have not seen this leopard but this is just my personal feeling, having seen and photographed not that many leopards:)

One last thought for tonight...try lighten the eye a bit, but not to an extent that it looks unnatural. Now I am really nitpicking, but I like this image very much and appreciate the time you put in, revisiting and making changes

Chat soon, have a great day tomorrow,

Hi Hiran, now I'm back, as promised I have revisited the image.

I put both the OP & RP side by side within PS so basically you can compare ever version and respective areas and personally I still think it's too 'warm'. Now this is purely a personal interpretation as I wasn't there and so the overall image could well reflect the situation.

I took the RP and tried to find a 'mid grey point' so hopefully things were equal in the RGB channels i.e. 50/50/50, however, backing off on the Temperature the cast reduces, opening up as I said more detail, adjusting the sliders in HSL and then, (if you are using PS then Colour Balance) you can refine the overall look & feel. The depth in the foliage becomes more clear and the white in the chest more pronounced/cleaner as so overall the clarity & detail appears too, I feel the 'saturation' is choking the nice detail you have. No additional sharpening was applied, just a remaster of your RP. All personal taste and you may well feel it's now too colour?
Great to see you build on the feedback from everyone, it can only help you in the long run and future images IMHO.

Gabriela, I have reduced a bit of yellow on the Leopard and lightened it's eyes. I noticed that when I save the "picture for web" the colors get more darker.
Anyway I would think this RP is better. Thank you for your kind comments and suggestions.

Steve, thank you for time spent on the changed repost I like the last one. It is very interesting and Learning on the feed back no doubt.

A really cool behavioural shot Hiran!
Lots of feedback and suggestions here already - Steve's last repost nails it for me.
I've seen photos of them standing/sitting like this scanning over long grass for prey as well.
