One of my favorite of the early spring arrivals is the Eastern Towhee. Here is a beautiful male. The background is a distant woods.

Love these guys, and you did nicely in capturing him on a branch rather than rooting through the leaves.

very nice Grace, I like the perch, even the OOF branch that intersects with the tail, I wish for slightly higher shooting angle

Nice one Grace. I like the pose and the wonderful colors on this guy. Your techs look perfect and I like the changing BG color and the perch with the buds looks pretty cool to. Well done.

Grace this looks lovely, bird looks great even with a bit of loss on the tail, do love the eye and that superb BG,the light is beautiful, would be thrilled if it was mine.

I have in my mind, certain species that I consider more difficult to obtain quality images of, and this is definitely one of them. Love the background colors...yummy. Towhee is posed nicely and is perfectly exposed. The undertail detail is a memorable feature here. Really sweet image of this rarely posted subject Grace.

    Grace:

I had my first one of the spring hopping around my backyard just yesterday, was so thrilled to see him, as they are uncommon visitors here. I rarely see them up off the ground, and even when I had a setup in the backyard, could never entice them up onto a perch.

I like the story telling aspect of the buds, the nice lighting, good exposure, fine eye.

I might consider a bit cropped off the top but strictly personal taste.

    Cheers
