I had a ton of luck with this species in flight last week, so here is another one to share with you. In this one I was lucky (and very happy) that it flew in front of a small knoll that was across the pond. It made for a clean green BG.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/2500s., f/5.6, ISO 800, cropped for composition, some distracting brownish areas at bottom smoothed out via clone tool, NR to the BG.

Beautiful down stroke and great background. I'd sharpen the head a little more.

Excellent flight shot of this bullet. I'm thrilled when I can just get a shot of them sitting still. Nicely done.

A really attractive frame, I like the wing position, and beautiful background. Nicely exposed, I would also sharpen the head a little.

All been said really. I wonder why folks don't go for a blurred backdrop sometimes to get the effect of bird speed. I know its not always that simple.

Off the charts, Daniel. Nicely captured iridescence and white control. Wonderful down stroke, fanned tail with feet tucked tightly under.

Wow! Nice IF of this little speedster Dan. You nailed it! I really like this one as the colors of the BG make him pop. I like the slightly tilted pose showing the right wing and the HA looks great. Looks sharp to me. I think the sheen on the head and the shape of the catch light is making it look deceiving.
One of your better IF shots, at least on of my faves!

Love every thing about it. Not an easy BIF species at all.

    Hi Dan,

A rarity on this side of the big pond, so great to see such a fine image. I really love the iridescence on the head - looks terrific.

Inspirational image. Like seeing folks like you and Arash, and many others pull off shots like this keeps the dream alive for people like myself. What a background to achieve with this species!...super deluxe sir.
