Not an easy task to nail these little guys on a tripod either I'll bet! If they are anything like the little guys here, they don't sit for long. Nice composition, at first I thought I was annoyed by the in focus branch the bird is perched on, but the more I look the less distracting it is. Well done, I think the bug has seen better days.

Hi Jon, great to capture the subject with food in it's beak and I like the setting and light.

Overall it looks a little soft compare to previous images, but the 2x, is it MKII or III. If your using the 500f/4II with the old 2x, change it for the MKIII.

Excellent image in habitat. Love the pose with prey in the beak, nice flowers in the lovely textured BG, beautiful color pallet and composition.

Hi Jon. Lovely frame and very natural looking. I agree with Steve about it being a wee bit soft, but that apart, I really like this. The depth of the flowers within the frame is really nice. Good capture and thanks for sharing

Lovely spring setting, and a very nice pose. Prey is a great addition. I wonder if the focus was on the perch twig rather than the bird; maybe you could add a touch of USM on the head?

Thanks for the feedback, I have to agree the image isn't as sharp as it could be, this is because I posted the wrong image!! This is the one I should have posted, I think it is pretty sharp so I won't be rushing out to buy a new 500 or TC just yet The focal point wasn't exactly on the eye, he was twitching and I was wobbling, but it was on his cheek so I don't think it is a million miles off. I think the fly is a bit better too!

    Far better Jonathan.

That's fine Jon, all I am saying is if you are using those bodies with the new 500f/4, then the new 2xMKIII will outstrip, the old one isn't that great, especially with the update of kit.
