This was taken in my backyard last May. It was a setup and an oriole feeder was used to attract this male. They should be back within the next two weeks. All comments and suggestions are appreciated.

    Very nice, Jim.

The composition, perch, pose, eye contact, exposure, sharpness and background are all fine. Well done.

    Jim:

Excellent look back pose, interesting detail in perch without being overpowering or distracting. Nicely exposed.

I might consider a version cropped a bit from the right and a sliver off the top. Personal taste really.

I rarely see the orioles quite so soon in Michigan, perhaps they migrate from a different area.

    Cheers

Thanks Randy. I don't know if you read it in my OP that this image was from last year. I generally don't get them until the first week of May. Light snow flurries here today.

Excellent shot of the bird, I would definitely consider lowering the saturation of the background, I think this would make a big difference.

Love the perch and background. The pose works for me and I wouldn't consider that a "butt shot". Is the bill always that color or sometimes much darker?

Perch selection is very nice, as per your normal standards :) Oriole looks fantastic and shows nice details in the blacks. Perfect exposure. Only way I see to improve this image, is if the bird had posed slightly different, maybe giving some seperation between the tail and the perch...also the tail might have squeezed into the dof then....minor really....Great image of this fine specimen.

Love it as presented. The diagonal perch with budding leaves is icing on the cake.

Really like it, the angle of the perch and composition make it for me.

Beautiful capture, Jim. These are lovely birds to begin with and I feel you added to it's beauty with a great BG and interesting perch.

Thanks for your comment Robert. In my experience with these Orioles the beak has always been this light and at time if the sun is strong you can over expose it.

Thanks everyone for the comments and suggestions they are appreciated.
