Default Attack mode - Golden Eagle

    Attached Images Attached Images

Image from earlier this year in Norway - this Golden Eagle was making for the snow covered bait - flying in and ready to sink the talons in!
It had been snowing heavily all morning and was starting to ease off at this stage - middle of the afternoon.

    Canon EOS 1DX, Ef 200-400 @400mm
    1/1600 sec at f/6.3, ISO 1600
Converted in DPP4 with adjustments in PS5 - Levels, Curves and vibrance. No NR.

Looking forward to your comments and suggestions.

    Thanks, Gerald

Great action shot, those talons mean business! The details in the bird are good and I also like the setting.

Nice action, I love the wintry mood. Nicely composed - perfectly balanced. Enjoyable raptor image for sure!

I like the setting, composition and outstretched talons. Beautiful image Gerald.

Nice pose and good view of the outstretched talons. I would have liked a bit more details on the snow but then the eagle would not be well exposed

    nicely done

Thanks all - just as we are trying to put winter behind us, I still have a massive backlog of images from my February trip to Norway to process! Don't be surprised to see the next frame coming up soon!

Shane, in fact the lack of detail in the snow is because it is out of focus, rather than any exposure issue. I remember Charles Glatzer recommending here on BPN to always shoot at +2 off the snow and that always seems to provide a good exposure on the snow and the bird. Always worth remembering.

    Best wishes,

    Gerald
