    Default Woodie Calling

My favorite ducks to shoot and I spend every weekend chasing them this time of spring. Canon 7DII 500f4+1.4, ISO 1000,f7.1@500sec. Converted and basic adjustments in DPP then slightly cropped for composition, resized and sharpened in PS. Thanks for looking

You have captured this wood duck very nicely. Lots of details showing especially in the dark areas and it pops nicely against that pale BG

The whites under the neck and beak look a bit blown on my PC and am sure that can be tweaked from the RAW file

That is a super shot, I like the slight saw toothed edge on the bill. Colours and pose excellent.

Great shot Joe, colours are spot on, BG is lovely and smooth and details are excellent. Only small thing is that the whites look a little overexposed on my monitor (but no biggie)

Great detail, particularly with the open beak. Whites already mentioned, but I do love that pose

I love their "whistling" calls. Good perch, great BG, and the calling pose is neat. Details and colours look good. Too bad the duck had not swung its back half over more parallel to the camera.

I like the perch, calling pose, details, sharpness and clean BG. Whites already mentioned. Wish I had one like this in my files. Excellent image Joe.

Stunning. Great details, light quality, and image quality. The subject animation is arresting as ever. The background colors/tones are sweet. The anchored/textured perch is really solid.

Thanks for the comments and input everyone. I find shooting them perched like this where the underside of the bird is visible but shaded and trying to get detail there without blowing out the top side whites to be much more challenging then when they are floating on the water and half the duck is hidden. Thanks again for looking.
