Nesting season just started with the repair of the nest.
This male is bringing in a little willow branch maybe for decoration.
    Thanks for looking.

Hi Karl, exposure looks spot on,nice and sharp with a good frontal view,Like it a lot.
Interesting reading about the start of nest building, might get over to Florida later in the year but I suppose they will have finished by then.

Beautiful landing pose and good you found a nest...I am sure it is a possible spot for you to return to. Exposure is good; I wish for a softer light not to have the shadow of the beak in the body. Nice work, Karl.

That is a really, really awesome image Karl, one of the best wingspreads I have seen and the eye contact is brilliant. Well done!

    Karl:

Its funny, but I don't recall you standing next to my while taking my osprey shot!

Great flare of wings and tail, and yes, the eye contact is excellent. I couldn't get my bird to look up, always had the head down watching the landing. Perhaps the larger the stick, the more attention paid to the landing.

Look forward to seeing your loon shots from this summer. (I will check the boat to see where you are at. )

    Cheers

    Thanks Randy.
Canoeing is history for me as my hips and other body parts can't take it anymore,
as I found it out two years ago.
I'll try to shoot the Loons from the shore, it might work.

That's exactly what I was thinking Randy and Karl when I saw both of your images!!! Glad you're both on a good nest. Love the wing position here and the fanned tail!

Dynamic image, Karl. Love the stare, the wings, the remnants of a meal on the talons and the tiny stick being added to the pile.

Karl, you could not have asked for a better wing spread! Nice clean nest, and a full but balanced comp.
