Default Nest remodeling - Osprey in Florida

Had a few minutes while on the family spring break vacation to work a local osprey nest. Although quite common in that area, it is not easy to find a nest low enough to give a pleasing POV in most cases, at least on land. When out on a boat, often they nest on the channel markers, which can be much lower.

    D4 500 AFS f/4 f/6.3 ISO 1250 1/2500 sec.

Very slight crop for comp. Selective sharpening. Removed a couple of errant sticks.

    Advice and comments always appreciated.

Excellent wing stretch, fanned tails, perfect exposure. I'll post a similar one taken last night.

I don't think you could have gotten a better pose out of him! Beautiful details in the wings!

An excellently timed shot. The shape and size of the talons gripping the wood makes me feel sorry for those fish.

Stunning capture Randy, super exposure, wing position and lovely to have caught him in the act of nest building. Thanks for sharing!

This is a very pleasing osprey image, Randy. Glad you found a fun nest to shoot. Great details and colors and of course the behavior you captured of bringing in the nesting material is super.

It was great spending time and photographing with you, Randy!!!

Love the intensity of the stick laying. Beautifully exposed and presented. (BTW- the loons are on their way back to you, if they aren't already. Only a very few are lingering here on Long Island)

Very nice wing spread on a wonderful landing pose. I like the way the talons are holding on to the stick. Good techs/processing.

Now I should just copy/paste this critique over onto Karl's image next.....

    Thanks everyone for the comments.

I think one of the reasons the bird was watching the landing so intently was that there were two fairly large chicks in the nest, and she didn't want to hit them!

    Cheers
