Default Osprey pair in Morrow, OH 4/18/2015

I had read about this pair of Osprey in Morrow, OH so I went out early last week to see for myself. There was only one adult on the nest and in the hour I was there the other adult never showed up. I went back out this morning and just as I was parking the car the other adult was flying off! I thought I had missed another opportunity. Luckily I stayed for another hour and the male (I think) returned when I caught this shot. I had to add quite a bit to the top so that I could rotate the image to straighten out the platform as it tilts to the left quite a bit! I got quite a few shots of the pair but liked this one best. Canon T3i, Tamron 150- 600mm, 600mm, f/6.3, ISO 800, 1/2500 handheld. Shadows lightened in LR, rotated, cropped, sharpening on the subject and gaussian blur of the BG in PS CC.

Nice job! This looks like a good place to stake out. You should be able to get some dramatic flight shots.

    Would love to see more!

Thanks Diane, I plan on visiting at least once a week, I would think there will be a ton of activity when the eggs hatch!

There is some great potential when they carry in the huge sticks for the nest, too. They do that occasionally even after the chicks hatch.

Nice shot. Looks like a nice open space to get some nice action shots.

Thanks Doug, yes there is room for the pair to really stretch their wings so I hope to catch some pretty good action.

Wonderful you can get almost level with the nest -- the ones I know about are a lot taller than I am.

This one is on top of a telephone pole but the pole is basically set at the bottom of a quarry so the area I am shooting from is just below the level of the nest. It's a little further away than I would like but the setup is great for observing the pair.
