Blue Tit.
Continuing my blue tit picture collection !!
I decided to keep on photographing these until I got the one I wanted. Not there yet but I ever tire of doing them.
Couple of bright areas taken out behind the bird. He's in mid preen since bathing in the pool below.

Very lttle done to this one after keeping the settins I did the Flycatcher on.
Slight crop from 24 mpix image.
D7100
Nikor 70-300mm
Hide/shelf/beanbag.
320th @f9 800ISO
No sharpening in camera. ev-1.0
Contrast in camera down 1

Most people think it looks a bit ungainly- but thats what they do when preening. At least its doing something!

you know it is preening because you took the photo but without that knowledge the photo is almost a BOAS, and a scruffy one (even if it is cutely so). You can infer it is preening but when there are so many other excellent 'clean' images on the site it has an uphill task. I think it would be great as a photo set but as a standalone image it doesn't grab the attention.

That's exactly what I mean . You've looked at it and expressed a view. Its a bird on a branch growing on a real tree so not quite a bird on a stick ?
