    Pied Flycatcher
These are one of the main attractions here in the forest but have been declining in recent years- down from thirty pairs to one pair last year.
Imagine my delight when this little fella fresh in from Africa, plonked down in front of the hide this afternoon. He was very accomodating and came back twice. Any one who has done these knows how hard it is to get the blacks and whites right. I am goig to frame the exif info for this one as it was spot on!. Thats in weak sunshine too !! This shot is straight from the camera except for cropping and neat image.
    Thanks for looking.

Nice looking back pose and I like the water color. Exposure looks spot on, John.

What a great capture John. Never seen this bird up here before. Lovely pose and HA and you got the blacks and whites in good detail.

Whatever is going to arrive next

Have to say John this one one of the best Pied Flycatcher shots I've seen. Exposure and detail excellent as is the pose with your trademark environment. I have recently disposed of many old magazines going back to 1984 or 86 including an edition of RSPB Birds where you have an excellent image of the bird, which given the day, was very impressive and one that would have been a keeper by today's standards too....so well done on that, such a difficult bird for sure. It is sad that I had to get rid of so much stuff but we can't be too sentimental or nostalgic:(

I hope you submit this for publication....I'm sure it will be accepted:)

Praise indeed ! I remember that shot. I used to sell loads to the RSPB- until they formed their ownagency. Those were the days ! We thought 200 ASA was the end of the world.

Lovely looking bird John, really liking the look back pose. I've been past the Wyre forest a number of times as I have an aunt who lives in Cleobury Mortimer.

Great shot John, I haven't had any of these in my pond and doubt if I ever will. I wouldn't mind betting no one has a shot of one of these birds bathing.
