    Default Eastern Screech-Owl, Red Morph

For comparison to the Gray Morph sleeping owl of Daniel's the other day. This one too was found per a tip from another birder, and was also sleeping. This was taken last month. I hadn't wanted to post it, hoping I could go back and find him (her?) again with open eyes, but alas several further trips came up empty. This was along a trail in a fairly public and heavily birded spot, so I resisted the temptation to use audio to awaken him.

Bill, another great nesting image. Love the tree and I really love the red morph. I like how it angled a bit and you positing it on the upper left of the frame.
When did you return for your shoot? Near dusk time is the best time to go, not only the adult would start to become active, the babies often time will come to the cavity also.

I really like that Bill, The tree and cavity have lots of character. I love the way he fills the cavity. The eyes closed is ok, Sorry the follow up trip did not produce and open eye shot.

Nice red morph captured, Bill. The oval hole acts like a nice frame.
