    Default Crested Caracara Head Throw

Still working on shots from south Texas in February. Canon 5D3, 600mm f/4 II, ISO 800, f/7.1, 1/1000 sec. The usual adjustments in LR5, and into CS6 for a little work with masked curves and some low-opacity cloning on a couple of spots in the BG. Much more of a crop than I'd like -- 35% of the original horizontal frame, with some off the sides and top.

    C&C always appreciated!

    Hi Diane
For what its worth I think ths is a superb image. Great detail and a great behavioral shot. With a BG with a hint of something. I cannot believe this has so little attention.- but who am I ?
    Good stuff

Original pose on this one. Nice details showing considering the crop. Composition works for me and also liking the BG

Any idea what it was doing?

Absolutely LOVE the color palette here, Diane, not to mention that pose which is always great fun to photograph. I would personally prefer a little less on the right and more on top.

Love the pose Diane, This was my first year shooting the Caracara's. And I saw this Behavior many times but did not capture it as well. Nice background and a natural looking perch for him.

This one turned out really nice Diane. Love the pose and the colors. Your techs look perfect and the feather details are right on. Well done

I too love the pose and the complimentary BG. What does the head throw mean in Caracara talk?

Beautiful image Dianne! I like the pose, perch, details, exposure and sweet BG. I would add a little more room up top.

Thanks, everyone! I don't know what a head throw means, but I'd bet someone else here does!

Good idea to add a little more on top, and I've cropped a little off the left since posting. (Nothing like going public with an image to make me spot a few tweaks...)
