Here is a handsome drake Shoveler that I caught over a nice blue water BG. Captured this during our "Ducks Unlimited" workshop in the beginning of March.

Thanks as always for looking and for your input. I appreciate it.

Another winner. I'm always torn whether I like the full up or full down wing position best....but on most ducks down is obviously the best for those great colours they have! Nice blue water BG, and the drops behind the subject are a nice bonus.

Sweet! Love the wing position, and the way the bird pops against the blue bg. Excellent detail as usual. I'm often torn about whether to remove the highlights from water on the bill. They are a bit of a distraction, but do indicate wetness.

Thanks Daniel and Bill for the comments. I'm glad you like the frame.

Bill, I almost always leave the specular highlights on duck frames like this. For one, it is the way it looked at capture, and for two, as you mentioned, it makes for the wet look of the bill which I really like. You can see that he was just feeding before I captured this frame. Thanks again

Beautiful frame David. I love this POV. Great details and colours on the duck which go perfectly with the BG.

Wow that's a peach they don't get much better than this! I appreciate you have deliberately composed this way, I am just wondering if the bird would look a little better slightly lower in the frame?

Thanks again everyone for the comments.

Jonathan, I used the rule of thirds on this comp and if you look at the middle of his body, it lines up that way. It might look better and look more eye level if I moved it down as you suggested. Thanks for the help.

Great shot buddy we are lucky to have this great outdoor studio with natural light, I agree with Jonathan if you are super critical maybe a tad lower in the frame.

Would not change anything except the possibility of a tad lower in frame.

This is one heck of a frame, David!!! The colors are magnificent. The wing position is perfect and love those water droplets. Agree on moving the duck down a tad. The only thing that could have improved an already kick butt image would be if the duck were not turned slightly away, but you already know that.
