I took this base image years ago with a point and shoot camera. It was along the trail to one of the lighthouses on the Oregon coast. I used a handful of filters on this, first using Silver Efex Pro to convert it to b&w and Topaz Impression to get a sense of brush strokes. After that, I used an action that I got in a digital painting class that uses glowing edges and threshold to create a pencil outline effect. Finally, I used Alien Skin Exposure 7 for the duotone treatment.

    Kerry,

Greetings. Really interesting shapes enhanced with the processing. Very organic look with the flowing forms reminiscent of something you can't put your finger on. Thanks for posting.

    Cheers,

    -Michael-

I'm not sure which is better -- the image or the title -- but they're great together. The stark contrast between the foreground and background is very effective. Your processing gives the image a lot of energy and interest. Very nicely done.

This is exactly how I pictured the Trees from the Hobbit, such as "Treebeard"! Slowly but surely this tree is walking! Lovely, graceful lines of the white tree with the subtle tension of pulling your eye to the right. Great background as in the woods are dark and deep...adding an ancient, other world mood. I love this!

Kerry, I like the strong contrast and graceful flow of the limbs. I see a graceful dancer with multiple limbs.

Very effective Kerry, I love the organic lines and the dark and light. It does look like it will spring to life at any moment.

Kerry, you are a Master! I am very taken with this, and thank you so much for revealing how it was done This reminds me of a few awesome trees in the Kalahari, struck by lightning long time ago but still standing, naked, and so dramatic.

    Kind regards,
