    Default Nossob Cubs

One from our December Kalahari trip...

We found these two lion cubs and their mother one morning after a heavy downpour the previous night (summer rains had started), playing and being all curious in the Nossob riverbed. This photo was taken in the far north of the South African section of the park (there's also a significant portion in Botswana), an area few people get to even when the park gets busy. We couldn't get closer but I liked framing the environment with them in the shot...obviously this works better at high resolution than at web-sized posting.

Hi Morkel - These trees look like great subjects even without the lions. I do wish the second lion wasn't being shy but I bet you do too. I like the morning light and colors. I'm surprised you went so wide on the aperture rather than stopping down a bit but it works with the lion and trees in focus.

    TFS,
    Rachel

This works very well Morkel.. Like the composition. Did you vignette the sky in post? I think I was at this camp (can't recall the name of it) on my last visit.

    Dear Morkel,

This little cub makes me smile... and the way he looks at you... looks like both of them were busy sharpening their claws? Playing?

I like the scene overall, composition wise. Image seems a bit dark but I understand the conditions were such on this early morning after the rain. It's tough when your subject is so far away, I am happy you did not drive through the riverbed to get closer though Always special to see and photograph lions in this (almost) pristine environment, thank you so much for sharing

    Warmest regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

    Hi Morkel

Love the little one's pose, pity his Boet is playing peek-a-boo..

See some posterization in sky, is it due to PP?

Do not recognise the location, where is it exactly?
    Regards

    Andre.

Might be due to PP, Andre.
Location is between Grootkolk and Kannagauss waterhole, I had to take a little drive onto the Kaa access road to get pics

Hi Morkel, like the impact of the environment and the horizontal ratios, but like others, I too wish for the other cub to be more visible, are there any frames further on???
