These guys inhabit a variety of places: from backyards to agricultural areas, from river edges to young forests, and more. This one was establishing territory in another of its preferred habitats - a marshy area.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, FF, toned down a few bright spots and lightened the dark stems running behind the subject's head (I was on a boardwalk and could not move right to get separation between that and the bird...)

Beautiful detail on the Sparrow, really like the creamy BG colors, quite complementary to the bird...appreciate that we can see he is perched on a cattail (I assume?) Not totally sure about so much space on the right? Lovely as is, tho. Thanks!

Hi DAniel, Wonderful tonal control and detail on the sparrow. I really like how the you show the Sparrow in its environment without it becoming a distraction.

Sweet Daniel, lovely tonal range, perfect DoF to provide separation, excellent placement within frame, subject nicely balanced with the hint of Bullrush creeping in.

I like the great habitat and the sharpness of the bird. I would have preferred the head angled slightly more away from the viewer, and that the one dark stem didn't run directly behind the head.

Hi Dan, love the habitat and the bird with complementary colours. Agree with Doug about that dark stem but otherwise a fine image.
