Focusing speed with Canon 800mm and the 600mm II on a 1D-X
Good afternoon,
I am testing a Canon 600mm L II from CPS and wanted to know from the group if you feel that this lens should focus faster than the 800mm. I've used it in a few scenarios where the subjects are about 25 to 50 yards away as well as closer than 10 feet away. I don't really notice a significant focusing speed difference. All subjects have been birds in flight or stationary.
Thanks in advanced for any feedback you may have.

You need to use the focus limiter switch to maximize the AF speed. The 600 II has a closer MFD so at full range the focus element has to travel more.
The 600II does focus faster than the 800 but the difference is not huge. However when you add an extender, the difference becomes significant.

Thank you Arash. Yes, I made sure to switch the delimiter to the correct setting based on the distance.
I will test the lens my 1.4x extender and see if I notice a difference. Thanks again.
