A wild mustang from a herd not far from home here in Wyoming right after a thunderstorm. Got lucky with the rainbow!

Hi Dale - I'd say you got lucky with the rainbow. I like the various diagonals and layers in the image and the colors. Nice light on the mustang. The flowers in the fg and around the mustang add to the image. There's a slight halo along the back of the mustang and the back of the back legs.

    TFS,
    Rachel

Thank you again Haseeb. Rachel, Thank you also. I did get lucky with the weather conditions but I scrambled frantically all over that mountain to find horses/horse that I could use in a composition. I saw the picture in my mind and just covered as much ground as I could to find the shot...

Dale - I can just see you frantically trying to find the right subject and composition, all the time hoping the rainbow doesn't disappear! At least you were carrying the 70-200 and not the 800 and tripod.

    Dear Dale,

I just love the vibrant colours here, beautiful light indeed and what a handsome subject to photograph!

Those lovely flowers and the thought of you frantically looking for the right "scene" made me think of a time I was desperately looking to find a lion in the KTP - it was in February 2010 and after lots of rain, that some amazing lavender-like flowers came up, and I had this stubborn thought that I must photograph one of those big boys walking towards me and those blue/purple flowers brushing its gold and black mane. I eventually did get one image but my subject was lying in the shade and the "lavender" not quite where I wanted it:)

This is a beautiful image Dale, well framed and the pose is superb with the subject looking back at you. DOF just great and those tiny halos a quick fix, wonderful to see another species here, don't remember seeing a Mustang yet on BPN.

    Kind regards,
    Gabriela Plesea

Hi Dale a nice specimen of the Mustangs in a gorgeous setting !!
I very much love the comp and the overall color and tones . The sky does look great , likewise the landscape ..... very spectacular .
I might open up the blacks in post as they do appear a bit too blocked for me .

    Nice job , TFS Andreas

This image has so many dimensions to it.... and they all work together beautifully. Incredible balance of delicate beauty and handsome ruggedness. Wow!
