    Default Corn Bunting chorus

I went to test my new 600 f4 lens yesterday. I drove to an area where we get plenty of corn buntings at this time of year. The birds were a bit skittish and mostly on wire fences

After a bit of moving in my car I found this one on a suitable perch

I had to add the 1.4x TC to get a nice frame filling shot

    D800e
    600f4 VR + 1.4x TCiii
    f7.1
    1/1000
    ISO 400

Center weighted metering in Manual mode. Resting lens on window. Single focus spot on the eye. Cropped for composition and slight selective sharpening on subject

    Comments and critiques welcome

    Thanks for viewing

Shane, I have to say if you want comments on the lens, this does not look that sharp to me....

Seems to have lost a lot when i have downsized it. The original is showing a lot more detail than this one. Will check amd see if i can find out why. Thanks for the feedback.

Nice singing pose captured, Shane. Great for the motif.

Awesome calling pose, perfect perch and what a great looking BG. I agree, the frame looks a bit soft as presented. More sharpening? Try downsizing and saving the file, then reopen the downsized file and sharpen it, then save for the web. Nice capture Shane.

Save for the sharpness, everything else looks perfect. Would think it is more of a processing issue.

Ditto the softness as posted - but it looks properly focused. Surely a resizing issue. I also see a cyan-ish cast...try adding a couple of points of reds in PS "Color Balance" to even it out and bring more warmth to the image. I really like the singing pose, and it chose a nicely weathered fence post to sing from.

Thanks to all of you for your comments

Here is a RP with a bit of extra care when resizing and sharpening. Did a couple of rounds of sharpening at small increments. Never know if I have sharpened enough or overdone it

The second post is looking good Shane. Great looking pose and HA. The details on the bird are lovely. The perch looks great as does the BG. Thanks for reposting

I like the singing pose, HA, clean BG, composition and complimentary perch. The repost is an improvement in sharpness but on the edge of being crunchy. Nice image Shane.

Much better but right on the edge so now you know your limitations. Good job.
