The eagles along the James River are feeding their hatchlings and the ospreys are beginning to arrive and build their nests. This osprey decided to eat after a long day of territory protection and nest building.
Fantastic osprey frame. Love the extended feet with the talons showing well and the head angle and eye look Great. The bird is lit very well. The comp looks about perfect for me, Maybe a hair more on the left.
It's obviously going after a dead floating fish. Baited? Killer looking frame either way.

Hi Ros, Welcome. Great timing and pose and I love the outstretched talons. Image quality looks a bit suspect; how large a crop is this? Same question as David: was this a natural situation?
