    Default Thirsty Threesome

    Attached Images Attached Images

Image captured at Cubitje Quap waterhole in Kalahari. We were waiting for the Bateleurs to descend, it was hot, very hot!
    Everyone wanted to drink.
The three rams came out of the dry riverbed and crested to scan the area for predators before proceeding to quench their thirst.

I pushed the exposure(+1EV) to get histogram almost to the right, trying to get detail in the darks, the scene was very bright.
Did reduce exposure on FG, maybe too much?
The BG behind them was interesting, but didn't want detail.
Hope this fits in with the Theme, if not, Mods please remove prefix.
    Techs:
    Nikon D3S with 500f4
    1/2000 @ f5
    ISO 400

The name Cubitje Quap is an alteration from the original San name, meaning "stony flats of the anteaters"
    Regards

    Andre.

Like the nice separation from the BG. Fine subjects exposed well with some challenging light to work with. FG looks fine to me. Well done!

Hi Andre - I agree with Dale. You handled the stronger light well. It's great that all 3 cooperated and are looking at you. I'm fine with the fg too. Nice one.

Hi Andre i like the overall scene with the bokkies waiting on the ridge for clean air .
Very realistic KTP colors for my eyes . Good overall tones and contrast , but would go brighter and more contrasty , just because you described the situation of shooting . If you leave it this way i might try to coax some more detail out of the FG sand.
Very nice overall comp with the further dunes as a nice backdrop .

Buthi tell me what you have done to the BG , have you just lower the contrast or have somehow softened the BG with a blur tool ?

A fine job all around ,reminds to to go back as soon as possible .

Hi Andre. Superb exposure on the bokkies, with an awesome BG. Nicely composed with good HA on all the three of em. TFS.

Thank you all for the comments!
Andreas, did use an action to soften BG by decreasing detail, no blurring tool. Increased sat on blues in the sky.
Did not want too much detail on FG, might detract from Bokkies?

Andre but how does this action decrease detail ? I just think it does look kind of artificial , but this could just be me , so no big deal .
I think a tiny bit of detail if FG will not detract from the subjects ,again maybe just me .

    Cheers my Buthi

Hi Andre, I like the scene and the overall composition, but agree with Andreas, the BKG just looks artificial and catches my eye.
