I'm really having a great time re-discovering and working up my older images from Kerkini, Greece. Here another Dalmatian Pelican is resting - but keeping an eye on those guys in the boat! Classic pose that brings a smile!

Canon EOS 5D MkII, EF 500mm f/4L IS
    1/500 sec @ f/11, ISO 800
Converted in DPP3, levels and curves adjustments in PS5, light NR with Dfine.

Comments and suggestions much appreciated. I hope it brings you a smile, too!

    Best wishes,

    Gerald

Another beautiful image of this lovely bird Gerald, the feather details are perfect, as they were on your previous images of this bird. I love the head feathers and also that eye Great work

Hi Gerald another nice composed frame of the Pelican , lovely detail and overall tone /contrast , gonna love the eye !!
    Very nice work Gerald.

But i take it sporty , hope you too.
So i pushed things a bit , tell me your honest thoughts , used the "WOW" on this one at low % , plus tiny bit of Smart Sharpen

What a great eye! And a lovely composition with the eye in just the right spot. Good feather detail. Andreas' RP may have almost too much pop for my taste, but the extra sharpening does help.

    Hey Andreas,

Thanks for taking a look at this one.

In fact, after I sharpened it for web myself, I knocked it back to about 30% of the sharpening, because I thought it was getting too spiky for my taste. Particularly the feathers at the base of the bird's neck are prone to looking like metal spikes on a prickly, punky necklace!

There is lots of very fine detail in the larger, original full size image, even some very fine hairs that I never expected to see. I'll send you a larger file to take a look at.

So while I always appreciate your pushing things, it's not taking the image where I am comfortable with it on this occasion.

    Best wishes, Gerald

Gerald no problemo , as i always say ....... a matter of taste .Good that we could see things from different POVīs , otherwise we would end up with all images looking the same and that is not what we want i guess !!!!!
BTW no need for sending the file , i trust you .

    Cheers Andreas
