This fellow surprised me when he flew in too close to fit in the frame. What's a gal to do but go for a portrait.

Such an elegant portrait, Grace. Spot on exposure, sharpness and details. Nice comp and an incredibly pretty bird.

Lovely looking bird and a lovely looking portrait. Excellent to be able to get so close. I particularly like the beautiful blue of the water.

I love the vertical portrait you created of this beautiful duck - well thought out. I also love the water just in front of the bird.

    Hi Grace
Been back to this a few times and I,m beginning to worry about my monitor or something. Its a beautiful shot no problem with that. It just doesn't look sharp to me. The join between the white and black on the chest for example, and generally.
Could be my gear as I say. Still a lovely pic though.
    Cheers
    John

Not sure what you are seeing, John. I can assure you that this image is sharp. The join that you refer to isn't abrupt, there are a few feathers that show brown in the white part, perhaps that is what you are seeing? In any case, thanks for your observations, and to everyone for looking and commenting.

Grace- looking at the bottom right where the black joins white- it,s sharp. But all I am saying is that on my gear the white joining the black on the breast is not. No big deal anywaty.
    Cheers
    John
